Looking back on 2025 – and ahead to an exciting year to come

Now that 2026 is fully up and running, we’re taking a moment to reflection a transformative 2025 for our business - a year defined by major milestones, strong partnerships, and the start of a new chapter for our team and brand.

From Topping Out at One Eastside and selling out an entire tower’s worth of homes at Editon Birmingham this has been a year of meaningful progress across our portfolio.

One of the most significant moments of 2025 was our rebrand to SphereGroup, marking the beginning of a new era under the leadership of CEO Alex Neale and Managing Director Thomas Taylor.

Sphere will continue to be a 'one stop shop' for ground up development projects, identifying medium and large-scale opportunities in strategic locations and unlocking them via a wealth of experience spanning institutional investment, land assembly, planning and construction.

As part of the new era, we launched our new brand and website – and welcomed our first major addition to the team in the form of Non-Executive Director and Board Member, Rob Bould.

A growing team…

We also welcomed two additional new team members to the business.

Stuart Eustace joined us from CBRE as Development Director having provided consultancy advice on some of the largest mixed-use development projects in Birmingham and acting on £1bn of investment transactions in the BTR space across key UK regional centres.

Raiany Rodrigues also joined the team as our new Assistant Developmen Manager, having recently achieved a master’s degree in architecture.

Collaboration remains at the heart of what we do.

This year also saw the first full cycle of our mentoring programme with Birmingham City University. Five BSc Quantity Surveying students worked alongside our team on dissertation projects connected to One Eastside, gaining real-world insight into development and construction.

At One Eastside, we marked a key milestone with our Topping Out ceremony alongside our founders, Pension Insurance Corporation (PIC), policyholders and project partners. Guests toured the show apartments before heading up to the 155m sky terrace to experience the views and future amenity offer. Standing at 51 storeys, One Eastside is set to become Birmingham’s tallest building when it completes in 2026.

Progress at Edition Birmingham

2025 was also a pivotal year for Edition, delivered in partnership with Select Property ahead of main construction starting in 2026.

We appointed Midgard Ltd as contractor to deliver 581 contemporary one and two-bedroom homes, setting a new benchmark for wellness-led city living.

In autumn, we hosted a “One Year On” event at the Library of Birmingham, where we announced the complete sell-out of the Park Residence apartments and confirmed that the scheme has now achieved over£100m in sales. Shortly afterwards, we secured Gateway 2 Approval from the Building Safety Regulator - another important step forward.

Residents will benefit from an extensive amenity offering, including a state-of-the-art gym and spa, a 20-metre elevated swimming pool with hydro and plunge pools, sauna and steam room, a sky lounge, and a climbing wall overlooking the city.

A message from our CEO, Alex Neale

“2025 was a defining year for Sphere, from reaching major milestones at One Eastside and Edition to rebranding and growing our team. None of this would have been possible without the commitment of our partners, funders, local authority colleagues and project teams. We’re looking forward to building on this momentum in 2026.”

Here’s to an exciting year ahead.
